Abstract
This study focuses on the situation of Bohemian towns during the first year of the Bohemian revolt. It includes a framework analysis of The Second Apology of the Bohemian Estates constituting the key document justifying the rebels' motives, in which the argument of religious oppression of towns was used as well. However, town communities took a rather careful stance towards the revolt and at that time, the town authorities still mostly dithered between loyalty towards the ruler or towards directors of the estates.
