Pavel Barša: Román a dějiny

Abstract

Recenze knihy českého politického teoretika Pavla Baršy Román a dějiny. Kniha představuje pozoruhodnou ukázku domácího politického myšlení, nicméně vykazuje také jisté limity a nedostatky. Ty jsou dvojího druhu. První nedostatek je literárně-interpretační a spočívá v určité misinterpretaci díla Milana Kundery. Baršovy schematické popisy odpovídají nuancovanému a pluralitatnímu světu Kunderových románů a esejí, respektive odpovídají jen části jeho díla. Druhý nedostatek je politicko-teoretický a spočívá v tom, že Baršovy obecně kritické výpovědi na adresu liberalismu nejsou zaměřeny na nějakou konkrétní liberální koncepci, ale mají spíše charakter karikatury liberalismu v jeho soudobé podobě.

Review of the book by the Czech political theorist Pavel Barša Novel and History. The book is a remarkable example of Czech original political thought, but it also shows certain limitations and shortcomings. These are of two kinds. The first deficiency is literary-interpretive and consists in a certain misinterpretation of Milan Kundera's work. Barša's schematic descriptions correspond to the nuanced and pluralistic world of Kundera's novels and essays, or rather they correspond to only a part of his work. The second deficiency is political-theoretical, in that Barša's general critical statements about liberalism are not aimed at any particular liberal conception, but rather have the character of a caricature of contemporary forms of liberalism.
