Abstract
The paper examines a process of fin-de-siècle aesthetics, very present in Monsieurde Phocas by Jean Lorrain and consisting in erasing the boundaries between the categories andqualities of the sensible (sensibilia) and the intelligible (intelligibilia). Our analysis is based onthe concept of difference, which brings it close to nescio quid and it intends to undertake a kindof anatomy of one of the vectors of the imagination and poetics of the selected era. It then offersan answer to the question of whether the constituent elements either of binary structures or oflarger sets tie together a relationship of opposition or ambivalence, if not ambiguity.
 
L'article examine un processus d'esthétique fin de siècle, très présent chez Monsieurde Phocas de Jean Lorrain et consistant a gommer les frontières entre les catégories etqualités du sensible (sensibilia) et de l'intelligible (intelligibilia). Notre analyse est basée surle concept de différence, qui le rapproche de nescio quid et entend entreprendre une sorted'anatomie d'un des vecteurs de l'imaginaire et de la poétique de l'époque choisie. Il propose alorsune réponse a la question de savoir si les éléments constitutifs soit des structures binaires, soit desdes ensembles plus grands nouent une relation d'opposition ou d'ambivalence, sinon d'ambiguïté.
