¡No tocar, peligro! Objetos extraños y siniestros en los cuentos de Silvina Ocampo

Abstract

La cuentística de la escritora argentina Silvina Ocampo (190-1993) se caracteriza por una expresión grotesca de la realidad cotidiana que, a menudo, incluye un elemento fantástico, sobrenatural, misterioso. Sus personajes, frecuentemente niños, criados, mujeres, viven en un mundo donde todo es posible. Es un mundo de crueldad y humor, pero sobre todo un mundo donde se rompen las convenciones, se cuestionan valores y significados, donde, en definitiva, ocurren cosas que no deberían ocurrir (como afirma Sylvia Molloy, "lo que esperaríamos leer se da junto a lo que no esperaríamos leer"; 1978: 244). Uno de los elementos clave a través de los cuales lo extraño entra en su mundo ficticio son los objetos banales y cotidianos, que, sin embargo, tienen propiedades y habilidades que también alteran el orden establecido. En este artículo se analizarán varios de estos cuentos para ver como Silvina Ocampo maneja lo extraño vinculado a lo más normal: fotografías, vestidos, espejos etc.

One of the key elements through which the strange enters her fictionalworld is banal, everyday objects, which nevertheless have properties and abilities that also alter the established order.This article will analyze several of these stories to see how Silvina Ocampo handles the strange in relation to the mostnormal: photographs, dresses, mirrors, etc.
