Les traductions raciniennes de Gustav Francl

Abstract

Studie se pokouší charakterizovat české překlady her Jeana Racina od Gustava Francla (1920-2019). Soustřeďuje se na formální aspekty (stylistiku, verš, rytmus, rým a cézuru), ale také, zejména na základě detailní analýzy nevydaného překladu hry Andromacha, pojmenovává Franclovy sklony k odchylkám od významů původních textů. Šest z deseti zkoumaných překladů nebylo dosud publikováno ani analyzováno.

The paper attempts to characterise the work of Gustav Francl (1920-2019) on the Czech translations of the plays by Jean Racine, focusing both on the formal aspect (style, verse, rhythm, rhyme, and cæsura) and, drawing mostly from a detailed analysis of his unpublished translation of Andromaque, on Francl's tendencies to deviate from the meanings of the original. Six of the ten translations in question had not been previously published nor analysed.
